Alinco Dj-180t 2 Meter Vhf Handheld Transceiver Extended Rx 144-170 Mhz:
$20
Here is an Alinco DJ-180T VHF handheld transciever. It works perfectly fine and holds 10 memory channels. The radio transmits and receives very well. These units are renown for their sensitive receivers and this particular one is a shining example of that. This radio also has the extended RX mod performed and can listen well up into the 170 mhz range. This gives it NOAA weather and some EMS frequencies. This radio works fine and has been my 'round the shack rig for some time. It's built like a tank and is easy as pie to figure out.It is listed as is because I am not including the mostly dead battery pack (It's held together with tape and glue from being rebuilt too many times.) and the number pad does not seem to enter frequencies. This does not mean that the pad is broken. Some radios only use these for dtmf sequences and link codes. As a matter of fact, very few radios of this time had direct frequency entry. I don't know if this one did or not. This 'issue' simply means you have to rotate the knob to change frequency/channel. Scanning from 140-170 on the vfo can take a while doing this, so I always increase the step to .25mhz to make it go faster. But, I mostly use the memory channels, so you only need to find the desired frequency once and save it. Once programmed, one click of the knob changes repeater frequencies.
In the last picture, the lighting was terrible, but you can see that it was tuned to NOAA weather on 162.450.
The 6 essential buttons work fine and the back light is quite visible.Yes it does tones (encode and decode).
This has made a great working HT for me for a while now and It's ready for a new home in your truck, tackle box or backpack! Its metal housing is rugged and up to a lot of hard use.
